But we don’t always appreciate the wealth of archival data kept in deep storage file stores in compressed backup software formats. Many companies have tucked away quarterly, annual and various one off backup files in order to archive corporate activities. These are in a compressed proprietary format that links back to the backup software in which they are created creating a golden handcuff to the vendor.
S2|DATA released a solution to this problem with the free Libertas Windows Backup Reader software. At first release this supports NetBackupTM disk image files with a roadmap for other backup formats over future releases.
Libertas can read, catalog, search and restore data in disk image files. This provides direct access to private company files without the need to license to legacy 3rd party software providers.
