Fr. Frank Blesses Max and Luke as Parish Readers

On Saturday April 18th at the Divine Liturgy for the 3rd Paschal Sunday, commemoration of the myrrh bearing women and Joseph of Arimathea, Luke Iyengar and Max Puluka are blessed as readers for Holy Ghost Church in Mckees Rocks.
They spend six weeks for Tuesday evenings with Chris Singel and myself learning how to be a good reader. We covered not just the basic chant required, but a mini scripture class to better understand the epistles and Old Testament readings that they will proclaim. We also covered some fundamentals of liturgy and the role of the reader in the services.
Many thanks to Chris for putting together the scripture lessons and teaching the class.
